I’m thrilled to announce Vera Chan has joined @JDLitAgency! Vera’s upmarket women’s fic, about a woman at a Silicon Valley–esque tech co. who finds her voice through martial arts, is wildly funny & wildly smart. Vera’s voice is just explosive. Welcome, @fasttalkingd!
Securing the right match can be made between agent and a writer can be a giddy experience. Vera Chan signed up on 10/10/2020 (who can resist a date like that) with Erin Clyburn, associate literary agent at the esteemed Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency.
Kismet came in two forms: Clyburn not only specializes in upmarket and book club fiction with writing that leans literary and humorous novels, she also is looking for the next voice in mystery. Chan has two manuscripts, one fitting the category of book club fiction, the other a mystery. Each has won awards in competitions for unpublished manuscripts.
This year, jdlit agency celebrates “20 years of making dreams come true.” A lovely interview on Wow! Women on Writing with founder De Chiara heartens any aspiring author who knows rejection papers pave the road to publishing at every stage.
I love being an agent; the best part of it for me is making dreams come true. Basically, I started my agency for the downtrodden, the discouraged, and the downright disgusted…. An agent is, or should be, a writer’s best friend.

As an agency works to make dreams come true, an author seeks to weave dreams from words. Here’s to a partnership in dream-making.
